“Dr.Carol Davila” Central Military Emergency University Hospital in Bucharest (SUUMC) inaugurates today the Integrated Nuclear Medicine Center, the first in Romania. At the moment, it is the best performing Center in the detection of oncological, cardiovascular and neurological diseases in Europe, according to a press release issued by the Romanian Defense Ministry (MApN). Defense Minister Mihai Fifor attends the inauguration ceremony.
This project, accomplished by SUUMC management with the support of Ministry of National Defense, aims at developing a unitary medical infrastructure by integrating PET CT with SPECT CT investigations, capable of providing high-level diagnostic and performance services, at European standards quality and patient safety.
Construction and endowment of the Integrated Nuclear Medicine Center implied allocation of substantial funds, total value of the investment amounting to EUR 4,368,006.86 with VAT, which also provided the costs for the training and over-specialization programs for medical staff involved.
At this time, all necessary procedures for the start of the medical diagnostic activity were completed, in the sense that specialized certifications from the Public Health Directorate and the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN) have already been obtained.
All public health insurers will benefit of the medical services offered by the SPECT CT investigation; after inclusion of SUUMC in the disease prognosis monitoring subprogram for patients with oncological diseases through PET CT, developed within the National Oncology Program, this investigation will be also settled for reimbursement. Necessary documentation to include PET CT in the list of medical services offered by SUUMC and settled for reimbursement by the National Health Insurance House has already been submitted.
