Asymptomatic patients tested positive for COVID-19 may be discharged upon request, provided they are isolated at home for 14 days.
During this time, their health is monitored by the family doctor using a telemedicine system, explains the president of the Bucharest-Ilfov Family Physicians Association, Dr. Sandra Alexiu.
Sandra Alexiu: They must be well informed and trained by the doctors in the hospital to what risks they are subjected, if they want to be discharged on request, both for them and for those around them. They must also contact their family doctors by telephone after discharge, as they will be monitored by teleconsultation. This means that they do not have to come to the medical office, but to call us or get in touch through other means of communication that they have with their family doctor, so that further monitoring can be done.
