Unique in the architectural significance and setting of its building, the station was erected between 1905 and 1911.
The Prefecture of Arad County, the City Hall, the County’s Council and the National Railway Company (CFR) will organise the ‘Centennial of the Railway Station in Arad’ between 31 and 1 February.
The series of the celebration related events started at the Arad Railway Station with a scientific paper session entitled ‘The Arad Railway Station ‒ 100 years of existence’, the launch of the work ‘Monography of the Arad Railway Station’, written by Radu Belu from Braşov, and with a presentation by Eng. Valentin Ivănescu, named ‘Time-travel’.
The present railway station in Arad, unique in the architectural significance and setting of its building, was built between 1905 and 1911 in the secession style.
Heavily bombed in October 1944 by the German troops, it was rebuilt between 1950 and 1953.
The events dedicated to the celebration of the station building will continue on Wednesday, 1 February, with the visiting of the Arad Railway Station exhibition ‒ 100 years since the opening of the station building.
