Romania celebrates, each year on 29 July, its National Anthem Day, with ceremonies in garrisons of major cities, attended by representatives of national and local authorities, but also by many visitors. Soldiers wear their official uniforms, national flag is raised high and national anthem is performed during celebrations.
Romania’s National Anthem - Deșteaptă-te, române! (Awaken thee, Romanian!) – represents unity, courage and patriotism that Romanians proved in crucial moments in history. It was forbidden during communist years, but brought back by people who sang it loud on the streets during the 1989 Revolution.
As each year, President of Romania urge Romanians to honor this national symbol and sing it with pride, as a gesture of solidarity, thus affirming their national identity, unity and patriotism.
