Approximately 480,000 students are expected to start on Monday, 1 October, the new academic year in most of the university centers in Romania.

Approximately 480,000 students are expected to start on Monday, 1 October, the new academic year in most of the university centers in Romania. Number of registered students refers to all three cycles of higher education, namely Bachelor, Master and Doctorate, according to the Press Office of the Ministry of National Education.
Exceptions are the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and the Polytechnic University of Timişoara,where classes started already, on 24 September.
There are 54 state universities in Romania, seven of which are military.
In most higher education institutions, the academic year 2018-2019 has 32 weeks of courses, six weeks of sessions and four weeks of vacation.
Romanian universities will open the new year of education through a variety of celebrations.
