80 million cubic meters of wood were felled in our country from 1990 until 2011.
The total damage is valued at 5 billion euros. This is the main reason that led to the necessity of a new forestry code, said today in Brașov, Minister delegate for water, forests and Fisheries, Lucia Ana Varga, during a meeting with the delegates from Romania Foresters Association.
The new forest code will come up with amendments to the law on forestry and violation of the staff regulations. Four major directions will have the new code, said Minister delegate Lucia Varga.
ASFOR announced Minister Lucia Varga that the main proposals that we have people in forestry are related to increasing accessibility in forests (forest roads), to increase the degree of reforestation, forest management unit, whether State or private talk and, last but not least, the change of forestry's image by promoting sectoral policies.
