Workers in the healthcare system protest salary cuts

10,000 members of the Sanitas health union protested salary cuts on Thursday in front of the government offices in Victoria Square.

Trade unionists are unhappy about lowering some health workers' earnings as a result of the new wage system that at the same time doubled the monthly pay for some medics.

Traffic was restricted in the area as demonstrators came to Bucharest from all over the country. They threatened to go on strike if the government doesn’t resolve their salary issues.
