Health Minister Alexandru Rafila said that until new hospitals are built, medical activity will operate in the old ones, although their architecture no longer allows circuits that meet current requirements.
"We are building new hospitals that meet the needs imposed by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. There are many public institutions in this situation. I don't think anyone can decide to close a hospital. (...) We have made an inventory of the situation of electrical installations and the situation of medical gas installations. We have projects to change them, some of them have been completed, The problem related to buildings with a certain architecture, with circuits that no longer respond to reality, is solved over time as we build new hospitals that will replace the old ones. But this cannot be done overnight and must be done in such a way that we can continue to provide health care to citizens. There will be a public person, I don't want to name him now, who will suggest that we close about 300 hospitals in Romania. I don't think anyone can make such a decision", Alexandru Rafila told Digi 24 on Wednesday, according to Agerpres.
