Vigorous Warrior 19-VW19: NATO Exercise with Medical Focus in Romania
Purpose of VW19 exercise is joint training to provide multinational medical support in NATO operations.

Vigorous Warrior 19 - VW19, the most complex medical exercise in the history of NATO, runs from 1 to 15 April in several units of the Romanian Armed Forces, involving three components: land force (activities that will take place mostly at the ‘Getica’ National Joint Training Centre at Cincu), air force (at the 71st General ‘Emanoil Ionescu’ Base at Câmpia Turzii) and naval force (in the Constanța area and the Black Sea).
Practical part of the exercise (LIVEX) will take place from 7 to 12 April at the Cincu Training Center, last day being dedicated to Distinguished Visitors, an event that will be open to the media as well.
Action sequence of VW19 exercise will be held in several areas in Bucharest on 11 and 12 April and aims at the coherent and combined action of national and multinational military and civilian medical entities. Action will be carried out in cooperation with Department for Emergency Situations and with support of Dr Carol Davila Central Military Emergency Teaching Hospital, says a press release from Romanian Ministry of Defense (MApN).

Purpose of VW19 exercise is joint training to provide multinational medical support in NATO operations, thus practicing the necessary procedures to provide continuous medical care, strategic medical evacuation, increasing the level of preparedness and response to a possible chemical, biological, radiological, or improvised device incident. It also includes development of concepts, experimentation and incorporation of advanced technology-based training in this field.
NATO multi-level and multinational medical exercise, organized by Romanian Defense Staff in collaboration with the Medical Department of the National Defense Ministry and NATO Military Medical Excellence Center, will be attended by representatives from 38 nations, most of which are NATO members. The VW19 will also have a civilian component, with 10 different organizations taking part.
