President Traian Basescu announced Wednesday that he has decided that the Prime Minister Victor Ponta to attend the European Council on May the 22nd, under a mandate that he is about to approve.

"The European Council of May the 22nd has two topics: one is related to the development of EU energy policy. The second topic is related to tax evasion in the Member States.

"I decided that on May the 22nd, at the Council, to attend the Prime Minister, on a mandate that I will approve at his departure", stated Traian Basescu in a statement at Cotroceni Palace.

The President specified that there will be a mandate that he will approve before the departure and that a presidential adviser and a team from the government began to work on.

"Presidential Adviser Manoiu Bogdan began to work with a team from the government to formulate the mandate which I will approve", says President Traian Basescu.
