Victor Ponta, elected president of PSD
The Congress of the Social Democratic Party re-elected Victor Ponta as president of the party and will be assisted by Liviu Dragnea as executive chairman.

Victor Ponta was re-elected as president of the Social Democratic Party on Saturday, at the Congress party.
"I want a united and powerful team", said Victor Ponta, after the announcement of results.
Victor Ponta was the only candidate for the party leadership.
Liviu Dragnea will hold the executive president function of the party.
The Executive president function was restored by the new Statute of PSD, approved Friday by the Congress.
Delegates from the PSD Congress approved Saturday, at the Palace Hall, the new management structure after the day before the party approved the amendments to the Statute, which provides, inter alia, introducing the position of CEO.
Under the new statute, the PSD has 21 vice presidents, of which eight elected in the developing regions, eight national and five of the women's organizations of the PSD.
For the national vice functions were chosen: Nicolae Banicioiu, Marian Vanghelie, Titus Corlăţean, Dan Nica, Eugen Bejinariu, Constantin Nita, Dan Sova and Ion Călinoiu.

For the five spots of vice president belonging to the Organization of Women's Vice PSD were chosen Ecaterina Andronescu, Corina Cretu, Gabriela Firea, Rovana Plumb, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu.
The vote was electronic.
Ion Iliescu was unanimously elected by PSD Congress as honorary chairman of the party, function that was introduced also in the statute.
The team chosen Saturday has a mandate until 2016.
PSD "goes alone at EP"
PSD President Victor Ponta said Saturday, at PSD, that starting Monday, the party enters the election campaign for the European elections, showing that PSD will no longer find in May 2014 under "USL umbrella".
"Starting Monday we begin the euro-parliamentarian campaign in 2014, because in May 2014 we will no longer have USL umbrella. You will be able to demonstrate in every organization, community, city, county what is our ability to mobilize, the help that PSD has", Victor Ponta said.
Victor Ponta said he relies on the support of the delegates come to Congress so that PSD to be the first party in Romania in the European elections in 2014.
