Vatican: Romanian Prime Minister in private audience with Pope Francis
Prime Minister expressed her appreciation for the support the Catholic Church offers the Romanian communities in the diaspora.

Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă has been at the Vatican, on Friday, May 11, in a private audience offered by Pope Francis. Head of the Bucharest Executive thanked the Sovereign Pontiff for his constant attention to relations with Romania and expressed hope that the Holy Father will visit Romania.
Desire to increase the Romanian presence at the Vatican - through a series of cultural, academic and religious manifestations - has been discussed, as this year marks the Centenary since creation of the modern Romanian state. Prime Minister Dăncilă also pleaded for deepening bilateral relations, given that Romania will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 January 2019.
Viorica Dăncilă also met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, State Secretary of Pope Francis. On this occasion, Prime Minister expressed her appreciation for the support the Catholic Church offers the Romanian communities in the diaspora, according to a Romanian Government press release.
