Variable Energy Gamma – VEGA system has been agreed to be produced and installed at the Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics facility (ELI-NP) in Măgurele, Romania. System is to become operational most likely in 2023.
American company Lyncean Technologies has won the tender for the construction of the second largest research equipment in ELI-NP’s High Power Laser System.
Present at the event, the United States Ambassador to Romania, Hans Klemm, was optimistic about the way the contract will unfold. Ambassador Klemm: "I am sure that Dr. Zamfir and the representatives of the American company are working well together to carry out this contract and to install the Gama system here, taking into account the size of the American company and the quality of work on this ELI-NP project".
Prof.Dr.Nicolae Zamfir, ELI-NP Project Director, says that the project takes shape as originally thought, with the two systems: high power laser and variable energy gamma.
The high-power laser and the gamma systems will enable the Măgurele site to become the world's most advanced scientific research center in the field of nuclear photonics.
