USR criticizes the new energy emergency ordinance and points out that the price regulation measure will definitely destroy the incentive to invest in electricity production.
In a statement for RRA, USR MP Claudiu Nasui, former Minister of the Economy, explained that, practically, by establishing a fixed price, any investor will choose to produce energy in the surrounding states and export it to Romania at an uncapped price:
Claudiu Nasui: All you can cap are domestic prices. You can't cap import prices, because someone from the outside simply stops selling to you, if you try to cap their price arbitrarily. This system where we don't have enough of a resource and cap its price is an illusion that it will work, because the moment you have 100 kW and you need 120 kW, for example, you simply won't have enough to cover all demand. In principle, the decision had to be a market one, which would encourage production investments and saving.
Producer: Former minister Claudiu Nasui drew attention to the fact that an attempt was made to implement such a measure for the price of firewood, but without success.
