USR accuses the current government of hypocrisy and says that it is not, in fact, interested in eliminating special pensions.
The leader of the formation, Catalin Drula, claims that the governing parties have been procrastinating for a year the discussion in the legislature of the USR project regarding the elimination of pensions for parliamentarians.
"I submitted a project that can become law in two weeks, perfectly constitutional and for a year - it's something unprecedented, I've never experienced this before in the Romanian Parliament - it's not even sent to the committees to make them report and reach the plenary session for the vote. Under these conditions, the priorities of this coalition of high prices, poverty and hard life for Romanians are the sinecures and privileges", Catalin Drula claims.
According to the current legislation, parliamentarians can receive a special pension of up to 15.000 lei in addition to the pension for which they contributed.
