Eight members of the United States Congress, Democrats and Republicans, met this morning in Bucharest with Acting President Ilie Bolojan, and this afternoon they will have talks with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
Until then, the delegation has rescheduled a meeting at the Parliament Palace with Romanian senators and deputies.
The Romanian delegation attending the talks includes several members of parliament from the ruling and opposition parties.
The agenda is expected to include Romanian visas, the presidential elections and the war in Ukraine.
US Congressman Vern Buchanan was speaking in the House shortly before the talks began.
Vern Buchanan: The purpose of the talks is to strengthen bilateral relations, to take them to the next level. We have a lot of companies here that create a lot of jobs and we want to increase the number of jobs. Your country is important to us.
The US delegation is in Romania on Tuesday, after the eight members of Congress met Moldova's President Maia Sandu in Chisinau yesterday.
