President Klaus Iohannis declared that Romania is committed to updating the education system and protecting citizens from the challenges of the economic environment and social realities. The video message was delivered during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which began on September 12.
The summit starts on Wednesday morning.
Romania co-chaired, at the initiative of President Klaus Iohannis, the theme "Teachers, teaching and teaching career" within the Education Transformation summit in New York.
Klaus Iohannis: Within this summit, Romania highlighted the topic of the teaching process and the teaching career. Teachers are the heart of education. As part of recent reforms, Romania is committed to providing teachers in our society with adequate initial and ongoing training, motivating salaries and a high professional status. We also make efforts to offer teachers greater autonomy in organizing school activities. The participation of teachers in the decision-making process is essential for their involvement in the transformation of our educational system.
