The Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) is ready to study the offer of the appointed prime minister, Dacian Ciolos, but considers that there are too few chances for the president of the Save Romania Union (USR) to succeed in rebuilding the center-right governing coalition which "was shattered by the USR itself".
UDMR President Hunor Kelemen told the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) on Tuesday that only the initial structure of the government would make sense and that he could not imagine a scenario in which USR would form a government only with UDMR or only with the National Liberal Party.
Hunor Kelemen ruled out the possibility of the UDMR supporting in Parliament the investment of a minority USR government.
Dacian Ciolos was appointed by the head of state on Monday to form the new government. The USR president invited PNL and UDMR to negotiations on the formation of the new government.
