The Minister delegated for infrastructure projects of national and foreign investment, Dan Sova, said Thursday in Cluj that the Romanian government wants to continue Transylvania Highway either through a concession or through a public-private partnership.
He also said that construction of the highway are unable to attract currently European funds and that the government cannot finance the work.
“There are so far at least three large investors interested to participate in this project.”
“I cannot give you neither their names, nor the conditions under which we might continue with them for the simple reason that everything has to be reviewed and all the highway has to be put under the concession parameters or private-public partnership, after we finish the contract with Bechtel”, said Dan Sova.
The Minister delegated for infrastructure projects of national and foreign investments said last week that the Romanian authorities have paid the debt of 50 million Euros that the state still had during Emil Boc government to Bechtel Company, the American manufacturer of Transylvania Highway.
He added that by April the 30th, the government will try to reach an agreement with Bechtel Company on termination.
From Transylvania Highway was fully completed only the Gilău - Campia Turzii section, while Bors - Suplacu de Barcau section is completed only 40 percent.
For these works, the Romanian state has paid an amount of 1.4 billion Euros.
