Nick Brown (US, 17 years old) has won the world speed record with the longboard in the Transylvania Downhill Pasul Vulcan (22-25 July 2019), reaching speed of 117 kilometers per hour and breaking the previous world record of 114,7 kilometers per hour.
According to International Downhill Federation, road that goes up from Pasul Vulcan in Jiu Valley is officially the fastest longboard route in the world, as said Mihai Ormenișan, one of competition organizers.
Around 130 athletes from over 30 countries attended the world longboard championship in the Jiu Valley. Route was chosen due to its steep slope, which reaches inclination of almost 30 degrees, but also due to the cable car, which facilitates access of the athletes to the start-line up on the mountain.
