Trade unions and employers signed the new collective work contract. It sets the gross minimum wage in the public sector at 670 lei and in the private sector at 700 lei.

It sets the gross minimum wage at 700 lei.
The minimum wage has become compulsory for private sector workers.
In the public sector, the Government has established a gross minimum wage of 670 lei.
Salaries of employers in the budgetary sector are calculated based on the minimum wage set by the Government.
Employers based their salaries on the low minimum wage
According to the collective work contract, the wage coefficient for qualified workers will be 1.1, and their salaries will remain at a level of 770 lei.
The wage coefficient for employees in jobs requiring higher education is 1.72, and their salaries will overpass the ceiling of 1.200 lei.
The new coefficient in the salary grid will bring significant salary increase in certain fields of work, the employers’ confederation UGIR 1903 president Cezar Corâci considers.
He also stated that salaries of employees with university degrees will remain at a level of 1200 lei.
Cezar Corâci asserted that the new collective work contract is mostly aimed at stimulating foremen, which is a rare profession in Romania.
According to Cezar Corâci, the new salary in this field is 910 lei.
The gross minimum wage of 700 lei has become compulsory for private sector workers.
In the public sector, the gross minimum wage established by the Government is 670 lei.
‘The vice-president of the National Trade Union Confederation ‘Cartel ALFA’ Romulus Niță says that ‘2011 will bring two minimum wages’.
The collective work contract will be valid for four years.
Work program, working time, working conditions and the minimum wage will be negotiated on an annual basis.
The collective work contract must be registered at the Ministry of Labor, in order to be adopted starting January 2011.
