Tourism in the Delta area, affected by Russia's attacks on the Danube ports

Russia's attacks on Ukraine's Danube ports affect tourism in the Delta.
The president of the Tourism Employers' Association in the area has started consultations with members of the organization to ask the government for compensation for the losses suffered.
He claims that 2023 is one of the worst years for tourism in the reserve, and the fishermen in turn complain that they cannot carry out their activity on Chilia Arm.
The first RO-ALERT message sent to the population of 16 towns in Tulcea to take shelter and prevent such unwanted events on Romanian territory, following Russia's attacks on Ukrainian ports, scared the tourists, says Daniel Ilusca, president of the Association of Employers in Danube Delta Tourism.
Daniel Ilusca: Now we lost two large groups, effectively, on these RO-ALERT messages. My colleagues said that's it, the phones basically stop ringing, and this is when fishing for carp, catfish and partly pike began.
Reporter: The war also affected the fishermen.
Constantin Tanase, from the village of Plauru: Since the war began, there has been a very large flow of freighters and you can no longer fish, as it passes, the net breaks, and it's gone, they scared them, confused them, and fishing, until this mess ends, is over.
Reporter: The Delta Employers' Association points out that tourism is the only occupational alternative for Delta residents and says that next week it will submit a request to the Government for compensation for the losses suffered due to the war in Ukraine.
