Toader: Justice package Amendment Bill will be announced on August 23

The Romanian Minister of Justice, Tudorel Toader, announced this morning that the Bill amending the Justice package will be publicly released on August 23, in the context of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Judgement on detention conditions.
A set of substantive changes have been proposed, Justice Minister announced on his Facebook page.
Also, the Minister announced that on August 8 he will have consultations with the trade unions of the National Penitentiary Administration on detention conditions.
The construction of two new penitentiaries is considered, also the modernization, the possibly extension of the existing ones, as well as the possibility of transforming former military units into penitentiary units, Tudorel Toader said.
He also announced he intended to make possible changes to the draft law on pardoning some punishments.
The Justice Minister was in Brussels last month to discuss with European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans about Justice laws.
He said the Justice package would be adopted by the Romanian Government on September 1st and then passed it to the Parliament.
