This week, Romanians do most of the shopping for the Easter meal.
Therefore, advice on quality lamb, in particular, are useful to everybody. Executive Director at The Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Bucharest, Ovidiu Zvorişteanu, explained this morning, during the show "Matinal" at Radio Romania News to what we need to be careful when we do our shopping.
"First, we must choose the store where we do our shopping.”
"This must be an establishment approved by the Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety to ensure they find there salubrious products.
"Secondly, we need to evaluate the appearance and layout of the unit you are served by. We always have problems where sellers are uncared for, where their clothes are inappropriate or not very clean.”
"The meat must have a pink color, to bear the health mark and the so-called stamp.”
"The meat from small farms around the city from legally private producers we cannot buy.”
"We take responsibility for the quality of the meat we buy. “
"The meat, for consumers, must necessarily pass through some controls in shambles.”
"The controls are both at animal reception and after the reception; there are ante and post mortem inspections, only then we have the certainty that the meat is good for human consumption. When the meat comes out from the slaughterhouse, it is accompanied by a veterinary public health certificate", said Ovidiu Zvorişteanu.
For complaints about irregularities in this period there is available for you the green call from the Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, as well as from the Consumer Protection.
