The US dollar starts the week at an all-time high

The American dollar will start the week at the historical maximum level of 5 lei and 6 bani, after having increased constantly lately. The dollar has also exceeded the value of the single European currency, and the geopolitical situation generated by the war in Ukraine is only one of the causes, as economic analyst Sorin Paslaru explained on Radio Romania News:

Sorin Paslaru: The European Union does not have the same courage in the euro zone as the United States to attack inflation, because it is more afraid of recession. The Americans, as always, are more dynamic, so as soon as they have a situation, they act, as happened in the previous crisis, they came up with the so-called quantitative easing, in which they threw billions into the market to restore confidence. Now, because of inflation, even the price of recession is being discussed.

Reporter: Iohann Pohrib - So America is taking this risk.

Sorin Paslaru: Yes, it assumes this risk of recession, and we consider that without the increase in unemployment. Not to mention the geopolitical situation, the euro and the dollar are now up due to what is happening in the Russian Federation.

Sorin Paslaru: We may indeed witness an increasingly strong dollar.
