From Wednesday, February 1, the Romanian Post Office will start distributing energy cards on the basis of which payments can be made to suppliers, be it natural gas, electricity, wood or district heating.
Four million people fall into the categories of beneficiaries who have monthly incomes of up to 2.000 lei, but the cards that provide the counter value of the total sum of 700 lei, the first installment of the aid promised this year, are distributed at the point of consumption, and not to each member of the same household.
One billion euros is the budget allocated to this support scheme, and the Ministry of Investments and European Projects will make the first transfer to the Post Office, which intermediates the payments, in the middle of next month.
The bills will be able to be paid either at post offices or directly at the postman, but also online, following the same procedure, Minister Marcel Bolos explained.
"They will be able to access the computer application by entering the series that the energy card has and then the three documents for making payments: the identity card, the energy card and the supporting invoice regarding the debt to the energy supplier", said Marcel Bolos.
On its website, The Romanian Post has published a guide with details on the use of energy cards and it is specified that payments will be possible starting from March 1.
