The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) says it constantly analyzes the security situation at national level, in accordance with its legal duties, in order to anticipate, prevent and counter online threats generated by hostile actors.
SRI clarifies in a web-post about online disinformation and propaganda activities and points to signs that highlight the use of networks of fake accounts acting in a coordinated manner.
These include low activity to the point of repetitive posting of propaganda or disinformation material, or an implausible number of followers in relation to the history of activity and content distributed.
Fake accounts on a network can also be recognized by the fact that: they have concurrent activity, but at times not specific to real users, their name is derived from a common name, and they use tactics tailored to each platform to artificially increase their audience.
