The Minister of Labour, Marius Budai, agreed with the representatives of the European Commission on a series of principles and criteria related to the pension system, among which is a gradual increase in the retirement age, to 65, for "everyone who works in Romania", reports Agerpres.
"I presented to the two leaders, the PSD president, Marcel Ciolacu, and the Prime Minister of Romania and the PNL president, Nicolae Ciuca, the conclusions following the discussions held within the European Commission, at different decision levels, from technical to directors and commissioners, which what happens in particular with pensions from the public system and with allowances and pensions established and paid on the basis of special laws. The amendments submitted to the Romanian Senate and approved and passed by the Romanian Senate were part of an impact study carried out by the World Bank, which was sent before my visit to Brussels to the European Commission and it was discussed based on that impact. Many things have already been resolved, as you know. Readjusting the percentage of the calculation base, capping income so that no pension exceeds the salary, removing assimilated periods and overtaxation are things that have been appreciated. In order to meet the milestone and not endanger the implementation of the NRRP, some criteria have been established that will appear in the following amendments, so that after the law is passed by the Chamber of Deputies, the milestone will be met", Marius Budai declared on Monday, May 22, at the Victoria Palace.
He stated that if these criteria are met, the milestone is considered met.
Marius Budai announced that the gradual increase of the retirement age, in accordance with the public pension system, up to 65 years, has been established with the European Commission.
Also, the pension rights will be calculated by the gradual increase of the contribution period, as provided for in the public system, so that at the end of this period the reporting will be done for the entire period.
"So certain periods will no longer be chosen from within what they contributed, but there will be reporting on the entire period", Marius Budai pointed out.
Another principle is the gradual increase of the seniority required in the specialty for those categories that did not already have this reporting, because in the initial project there were certain reports at a certain minimum contribution period.
The Minister of Labor also mentioned that another principle concerns the elimination of certain categories of allowances and pensions established and paid on the basis of special laws.
He specified that some of the amendments are already ready and were presented to the leaders of the Coalition, receiving the 'disposition' that by Wednesday evening all the amendments should be ready, written and discussed with the relevant systems and ministers, together with the specialists from the ministries, they should come with their input and the amendments to be finished and finalized, and on Thursday the Political Coalition can submit them to the Parliament.
