The residents’ salaries wil progressively increase until 2014 –established today within a meeting between the representatives of the Health and Finances Ministries with those of the health unions.

According to the vice prime minister, Daniel Chitoiu, the health salary increases will be made through budgetary rectification and also by granting some scholarships from the Education Minister.

Daniel Chitoiu also said that the government has in mind also the allocation of 5% from the gross domestic product to the medical system.

“The amounts allocated per total to health in 2014 will be bigger than those in 2013. We want that these amounts as weight in GDP to lead to 5% in 2014, but this decision will be a political one, at the government’s level”, also said Daniel Chitoiu.

Sanitas Federation vice president, Marius Sepi, mentioned that at the Tuesday meeting they discussed also the budgetary rectification from the end of the month, but also the hospital buildings that can be alienated.

“We explicitly discussed inclusively the rectification from the end of this month just to be able to cover the functionality of Romanian hospitals and the ministers gave us hope so that we could cover the necessary amounts for this claim we have.”

Furthermore, there are some conflicts related to the hospital statute, and in this official sense I will ask the minister to accept recalculating the statute problem in a sense that indubitably to come out the fact that hospitals remain in the state property and that these things will not change”, stated Mariu Sepi.

The Health Coalition Professionals’ protests will continue until the apparition in the Official Gazette of the law which provides the salary increase for the residents.
