The government representatives will have a new meeting today with those of the big commercial chains, before establishing the form in which the measures aimed at making basic food products cheaper will be promoted. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu stated that on Thursday it will be decided whether it will be an agreement or a normative act will be adopted to ensure a balance in the entire system, so that both domestic production and imported goods are included.
The head of the executive reaffirmed the intention to generate the reduction of inflation in this way, so that this indicator will be measured by a single digit until the end of the year. According to the latest data published by the National Institute of Statistics for May, the annual inflation rate was 10.6%. This was the average price increase compared to the similar month of 2022.
