The prosecutors and the police destroyed a part of an international computer network

DIICOT prosecutors and Romanian police managed to dismantle, at the request of the United States authorities, part of an international computer network that infected hundreds of thousands of computers in dozens of countries in order to steal users' financial data.
According to the investigators, the victims received email links that, once accessed, infected the computers, and the attackers could access financial data.
The administrators of the network would thus have obtained over 50 million euros, between 2021 and 2023, from the ransoms paid by the victims.
