The leaders of the governing coalition approved a proposal by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu regarding the abolition of 200.000 unoccupied budget positions and another by the PNL leader, Nicolae Ciuca, regarding the reduction of expenses in all ministries, according to official sources.
Solutions to combat tax evasion and improve revenue collection to the budget were also discussed at the Victoria Palace meeting.
The meeting lasted more than two hours, however, for now, a final form of the package of fiscal measures by which the Executive wants to reduce the deficit and bring more money to the budget has not been reached.
Among the proposals are the increase of the minimum salary of construction workers, in parallel with the elimination of their exemption from the payment of the health contribution, the waiver of the reduced VAT rate of 5%, which is currently applied to some products and services, the increase of the tax on dividends and a higher tax for micro-enterprises with a turnover of over 500.000 euros.
