Traian Băsescu has declared that he unreservedly sustains the “ public wages restoring ” before the applied cuts in 2010.
The president has specified in a press release that a budgetary salary increasing does not lead to the structural fund increasing at health fund and respectively at pension fund, but, it reduces it, by applying the Health Insurance House (CAS) at a bigger amount of money.
„The measure of returning to pre-reduction salary in 2010 is not likely to affect any of the two funds in a negative way. Conversely, it positively affects them, because from the salaries are paid allowances both to health and pension fund. So, a salary increasing reduces structural deficits of the two funds.”
Traian Băsescu also said that he communicated to Prime Minister Victor Ponta that he is obliged to state employees to bring their salaries to the level of June 2010.
"I am unreservedly supporting restoring the public wages to their pre-cut levels. This is what I have told the International Monetary Fund , the outgoing government ,the IMF mission of January-February this year , the Romanian Parliament , the Cabinet-designate and the Prime Minister-designate , I have informed all of them of this option and this obligation incumbent on us to the public employees, "said the President.
The president had declared at the beginning of the meeting with the International Monetary Fund (FMI) delegation that maintaining at the current deficit levels for the health insurance and pension funds represents the essential element in the upcoming period, pointing out that he will not send the letter to Parliament, if this principle is not respected.
Public wages , „8 percent increased as of June 1”
The FinMin-designate , Florin Georgescu, announced Saturday night, after the negotiations with the FMI delegation, that budgetary salaries will increase with 8percent starting June.
The minister also stated that it was not found a solution for retirees, they being supposed to "receive monthly amounts also since June."
"A certain amount to restore public sector salaries to their June 2010 levels, starting from a premium increase of 8percent in June, and also it was found a comprehensive solution to solve the pensioners’ problem who are supposed to get monthly amounts also starting June, "said FinMin-designate Florin Georgescu.
