The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, made a working visit to Italy, during which he had a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs from Rome. Marcel Ciolacu stated that Romania wants to update the strategic partnership it has had with Italy since 1997, which will also help the Romanian community in this country, which numbers 1.2 million people. The subject was also discussed at the meeting with the mayor of Rome.
Correspondence from Rome - Elena Postelnicu: In the discussions with the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, also referred to the more than 220.000 compatriots residing in the Lazio region in order to create new opportunities, including at the level of administrative representation.
Marcel Ciolacu: I talked a lot about the Romanian community in the Rome and Lazio areas, there are over 220.000 Romanians and he said that they have integrated extraordinarily. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing because I would like us to create the conditions for as many Romanians as possible to return home, but it is good news that we are recognized and esteemed at full value.
Elena Postelnicu: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Sorin Grindeanu, and the Romanian Ambassador to Italy, Gabriela Dancau, were part of the Romanian delegation.
