The port of Constanta receives ships that were to arrive in Odessa

Articol de Radio România Constanţa, 17 Martie 2022, 21:32

Due to Russia's war in Ukraine, the number of ships coming to the port of Constanta to unload cargo containers that they could not deliver to the Ukrainian port of Odessa has increased in recent weeks.

Dorinel Cazacu, the director of a company specialized in the operation of containers in the port of Constanta, explained for Radio Romania Constanta that the first days were more difficult, but there are no blockages.

Dorinel Cazacu: There will be no blocking problems, because they used not only the port of Constanta, they also left in other hubs, much bigger, in Piraeus and Istanbul. We had a congestion, and yes, that really was a problem, in taking over the ships that were already marching towards Constanta. For the time being, solutions are being sought in the light of two lines of major interest that they have: one, to release their containers, and there was a shortage in the container market anyway; two, the fact that these storage units are quite large and were not estimated and at some point probably become prohibitive for /.../ containers.
