The president of the PNL, Nicolae Ciuca, said that at the level of ministries, different options are being discussed regarding the better management of the country's budget and that the main concern is the inclusion of the deficit target of 4.4% of the GDP for this year, writes Agerpres.
Regarding possible VAT increases for certain products, Nicolae Ciucă answered: "We have discussed this matter before. When we talk about the VAT increase, we must be very careful about the effects it produces, because as a rule, VAT, on the one hand, increases inflation, on the other hand, it has been shown that it does not always bring economic growth, which is why we are waiting for the specialists to come and make a decision, to see what the effects are in the economy and to see what the effects are on the citizens".
"Our main concern is to stay within the deficit target, as established with the European institutions, with the European Commission, of 4.4% at the end of the year, in order to be able to continue our funding programs from European money. It is absolutely mandatory", Nicolae Ciuca also said.
