The number of new cases of COVID-19 has dropped below 3.000

The number of new cases of COVID-19 has dropped below 3.000 today, but the results come from fewer tests than in previous days.

Authorities reported 2.880 newly infected people out of about 15.700 tests.

Bucharest remains on the first place at national level, again with over 500 cases, followed by the counties Bacau - 163, Timis - 155 and Iasi - 139.

More than a hundred cases are reported today in Prahova, Neamt and Dolj.

The infection rate with the new coronavirus reported in the last 14 days exceeds today 1.5 cases per thousand inhabitants in the Capital.

Alba and Valcea have exceeded two more cases per thousand inhabitants, while Iasi is very close to this threshold.

There were also 53 deaths reported today, the total number now being 5.411, and there are currently 628 patients in Intensive Care Units.

The total number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Romania is over 155.000, of which almost 118.000 were cured.
