RADIO ROMANIA NEWS (December 23) - Radiojournal - Producer: Laurentiu Vaduva - The number of cases of acute respiratory infections is increasing, doctors warn. In Giurgiu, for example, last week there were 185 cases of respiratory infections and seven of flu. Specialists say that these infections can be treated at home, under the guidance of family doctors, but if the symptoms do not improve, it is necessary to go to the hospital.
Reporter: Marcela Petcu - At the Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital, many patients present with symptoms of acute respiratory infections, especially elderly people and children, says doctor Gigi Dragomir, specialist in emergency medicine.
Gigi Dragomir: Adults are also affected, especially the older age groups, the most prone being those with associated comorbidities. That is why epidemiologists come up with several recommendations.
Sabina Suhan: Wearing a mask remains valid, but also limiting contact with sick people. If the sick patient's symptoms do not improve under treatment administered at home, then presentation to the emergency room is recommended.
