The project to build the 5 km stretch of motorway between Cristian and Codlea with European funds will be approved in two weeks at a government meeting in Brasov. Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu told RRA reporter Alexandru Lancuzov that the authorities are considering a public-private partnership for the remaining 100 km of motorway linking Ploiesti and Brasov.
Sorin Grindeanu: "We discussed just yesterday in Timisoara, namely the organisation of the next government meeting in Brasov, when the technical-economic indicators for a segment of this Comarnic-Brasov motorway are to be approved. This is a start. One of these solutions is the public-private partnership. We are not inventing these things. Motorways have been built and are still being built in Europe, and not only in Europe, with this funding."
The cost of building the A3 Ploiesti-Brasov motorway is estimated at €4-5 billion, and the investors who will participate in the public-private partnership will recover their money from the road operating fee.
