Romania's strategic energy policy is based on three main pillars: renewable energy, nuclear sources and natural gas as a transitional fuel, Dan Dragan, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy, said today.
Speaking at a specialist event, he added that the Neptun Deep project to extract natural gas from the Black Sea is on schedule:
"I can tell you that the joint venture already has most of the contracts signed with large industrial companies, companies with very good expertise in the first players in the market, and this project is on schedule. So we are waiting for 2027 to be able to cover all our gas needs from our own resources. We hope that this consumption will increase and that the industry, which at the moment has some of its capacity shut down or in conservation, will restart it, given the flow of resources, both electricity at sustainable prices and natural gas."
