"The suspension of Traian Băsescu enters straight" – writes Jurnalul Naţional referring to the extraordinary session of Parliament convened to "decide tomorrow, by vote, the fate of the Chief of State".
The author of the article presents in detail the reasons given by USL, which initiated the request, the request for suspension of Traian Băsescu, which will be read today in the plenary of Parliament, and adds that, if the Parliament votes in favor of the request for suspension, the Government will organize, within 30 days, a president's impeachment referendum.
It is also estimated a date of a possible referendum for 22 or 29 July and in addition, the idea of the possibility is submitted concurrently with the organization of presidential elections - mentions Jurnalul Naţional.
"Reasons for the suspension of Traian Băsescu" are analysed also by România Liberă, which claims that USL parliamentarians identified seven serious offenses of violation the Constitution by the head of state, all based on the argument that Traian Băsescu would have been subjugated the state institutions.
Regarding the request for suspension of the president, Evenimentul Zilei comments that "it is written in haste, is illogical and has drafting errors".
Also, the newspaper writes down which would be the prerogatives of the president of Senate, Crin Antonescu, during the interim as the head of state, if Traian Băsescu were suspended, and brings into attention the U.S. Ambassador’s statement to Bucharest, Mark Gitenstein, who said yesterday that it is important that the suspension of the president to be done in accordance with the Constitution.
External reactions to events in the country are detailed also by Adevărul that, under the title "Romania, threatened with suspension from the European Union", exclusively reveals that the "leader of Christian-Democrats Germans euro deputies will start the procedure for suspending our country from the European Council because, quote: "the lack of minimum standards of functioning the state".
Details about other "voices" that make judgments on the current situation as well as what sanctions can be applied to Romania and in what conditions – you find in the pages of the publication.
Back to Evenimentul Zilei that shows an interview with the doctor and health expert, Sorin Paveliu. This analyzes the pluses and minuses of the new Law on Health which aims to resolve the current situation of the Romanian medical system.
