National minorities will have a representative in the Board of the National Council for the Study of Security Archives.
The measure adopted today by the Chamber of Deputies as the first body to be seized of the matter, complements the ordinance on access to one's own file and the deconsecration of security.
As the initiator, MEP Silviu Vexler explained why the new regulation is necessary.
Silviu Vexler: The draft involves the addition of a seat for the National Minorities Group for a researcher specialising in the history of the Holocaust in Romania. Together with the famous General Archive, the Council holds more than 95% of all documents concerning the Holocaust in Romania. Because the recent appointment has added a seat for the AUR group, the man dealing with this subject has been removed from the Council, the only man dealing with this area.
