The Minister of the Interior, the liberal Lucian Bode, asked politicians to make a truce and collaborate so that Romania is admitted to the Schengen area on January 1, 2023.
He made this call in Buzau, where a new pavilion of the Schengen Multifunctional Training Center was inaugurated, a center where thousands of specialists have been trained so far in what joining the European area of free movement consists of.
"A call for a political truce - it's time for all political forces to prove unity on this major file for Romania. There are moments when we must not miss the chance of history and prove political maturity and consensus, because the Schengen file is not about individuals, it belongs to Romania and should not be politically infected", claims Lucian Bode.
The call of the Minister of the Internal Affairs also comes in the context where yesterday was the first day of evaluation of the experts from the 15 member states of the European Union who appointed their representatives for Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia, countries that are waiting to be accepted into the European area of free movement.
