The capping-compensation system ensured a low cost of energy for Romanians, and if the capped tariff is taken into account, Romania has the fourth cheapest gas in the European Union and a middle position regarding the price of electricity, says the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.
He explained that the scheme is in place until March 2025 and added that the Government approved an emergency ordinance on Friday that provides additional sources of funding to compensate suppliers who pre-finance their bills.
According to ANRE, the total value of invoices sent for settlement exceeds 20 billion lei, for a period of almost two years.
Burduja also said that tomorrow he will try to find, together with supply companies and banking institutions, a formula to help suppliers obtain cheaper credits to pre-finance the compensated amounts.
