In Bucharest, representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations stated that the LPG station where last night's explosions occurred was closed and fined several times in recent years.
The Head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat, reaffirmed at the MAI headquarters that the company in question did not have a license to operate.
Raed Arafat: We know that the company didn't exist anymore... At least it was no longer working or clearly it no longer had approvals or authorization. Now, the investigation is carried out by the General Prosecutor's Office. Of course, colleagues from public order, from the Police in fact, and from the fire department also, participate here. In this investigation they will have their role. Clearly, from our point of view, the firm had no documents or authorization to operate. Normally, the firm had no business. They were transport tanks.
