RADIO ROMANIA NEWS (October 22) - "Radiojurnal" - Producer: Ciprian Sasu - The government's emergency ordinance which amended the rules on gambling and introduced an additional tax for this industry will be debated in the Parliament next week.
In parallel, the draft law that provides for the relocation of gambling halls to the outskirts of cities awaits the decisive vote of the deputies. Petruta Dinu reports.
Reporter: Senators from the Legal Commission will analyze, on Monday, the amendments submitted by the parliamentarians to the emergency ordinance by which the government modified the rules and regulations regarding gambling. One of the amendments provides for the removal of gambling halls outside the localities, a provision that also appears in the draft law under debate at the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body.
It is also expected that the deputies will adopt another government ordinance in the next period regarding, this time, the implementation of the national plan to combat cancer. The past few days, the document was adopted in the Senate plenary, without changes. However, during the debates, the senators criticized the fact that the health minister did not elaborate the methodological rules for the application of this plan.
The opposition representatives requested the resignation of Alexandru Rafila, and there were abstentions at the vote, including from PNL senator Nicoleta Pauliuc.
Nicoleta Pauliuc: I managed to vote, because, as I said, no matter what we do, cancer patients still have no chance. Deadlines are delayed.
Reporter: Next week, the specialized committees in the Chamber of Deputies will continue the debates on the Urban Planning Code, a draft law that will regulate in the coming years everything that means urban development in Romania.
