In the light of a recent decision that was taken, the Board of CSA makes it easier to apply the bonus-malus system and facilitates the access to information regarding their damages for people who have insurances.
Therefore, starting the 15th of September 2012, people who use mandatory car insurances will have access to information regarding the record of their past damages, which is available in the CEDAM database.
Insurance bonuses offered by the mandatory car insurance depend on the record of damages that the user of a car with insurance has in a reference period, as the current laws regarding the bonus-malus system say.
Also, a method has been implemented, which enables the insurance companies to query the CEDAM database in order to find out the record of past damages of the potential clients by using the web service associated with the bonus-malus system.
The Insurance Surveillance Commission(CSA) is responsible for the maintenance and administration of the CEDAM database.
The data available in this database is centralized from the insurance companies, the rightful owners of the data.
CSA has no right to alter this data. Responsible for the collecting, transcription, uploading and modifying the mandatory car insurance policies are only the insurance companies.
