The new Education Law should include the "History of Communism in Romania" in the category of compulsory subjects for high school, according to the vice-president of the National Liberal Party and the special representative of the Government for the promotion of memory policies, combating anti-Semitism and xenophobia, Alexandru Muraru.
At the Education Forum, organized today in Iasi, he stated that such a matter represents the truest and most profound condemnation of communism, of its crimes and abuses.
Alexandru Muraru emphasizes that greater efforts are needed at European Union level to combat Russia's attempt to rewrite history in the context of the war in Ukraine and recalls that 30 years after the fall of communism, 63% of Romanians believe that the situation back then was better than the one now.
It is the highest figure in recent years and shows the extent of the revaluation of communism, it is stated in a press release.
