Author: Sales of electric cars and hybrids decreased in Europe in the second quarter of this year, according to data published by the PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting Company, but the Romanian market, still relatively small, is still growing - the same study shows.
Reporter: Sales of 'green' cars in the ten main European car markets, namely Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, decreased by 4% in the second quarter of this year, further reflecting the problems faced by manufacturers, related in particular to the lack of components and delayed deliveries - it emerges from an analysis carried out by the Global Strategy Department of the PwC network. According to the study, the first two quarters of 2021 saw increases of 100% and 259%, respectively, after which the advance moderated to 32 percent in the third quarter, 6 percent in the fourth quarter and 13 percent in the first three months of 2022.
The sales of electric cars were the only ones that continued their growth in the second quarter of the current year at European level, registering an advance of over 8%, which could not, however, compensate for the declines recorded by the hybrid models. In the first half of the year, the market share of 'green' cars in Europe reached 45.6%, of which more than half are hybrid models. The profile market in Romania, still being small, continues to grow at a rate of over one hundred percent, and in July, sales of electric cars surpassed diesel ones for the first time, according to PwC Romania data.
