The government pledged its responsibility before the Parliament for the fiscal package designed to reduce expenses and increase budget revenues.
In his speech, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu did not present the document in detail, but rather its main directions and targeted objectives.
He stated that "the measures included in the law are not a simple reaction to current needs, but the beginning of a wider reform, a resettlement of the state on fair and equitable bases".
"The fiscal measures will stimulate Romania's development, ordinary people will not pay any additional taxes, but luxury and vices will be taxed in addition", stated Marcel Ciolacu.
The opposition displayed placards with critical messages against the prime minister and the governing coalition.
The representatives of AUR posted themselves right in front of the tribune from which the prime minister addressed.
After the moment of assuming responsibility, there are three days in which a censure motion can be initiated against the executive.
If there is no such approach or if it does not have sufficient support, the law is considered adopted.
